Tyke Vision - These kids are the future and the team goals should build upon the Mini Tyke years; continue engaging the kids in fun games that promote skills development and a love for the game, while introducing more instruction in playing a full-floor game. The coach's goal should be that all kids re-register the following season.
Team costs shouldn't exceed the initial investment of registration other than a pair of black shorts as this age group does not wear our club shorts. We should be sourcing these through our approved apparel provider from our website, which they are available with logo for a cost of $17.50. A bank account should not be necessary for these teams. Tournaments may be an option, but participation in such events is at the discretion of a team vote and not mandatory.
Coaches and bench staff require a Community Initiation course for this level, however we encourage all Tyke coaches to register for Community Development if they already have take the previous course. It is the volunteer's responsibility to complete this course and the subsequent work book before the end of the playing season. More information on coaching requirements can be found on our website.
Managers should familiarize themselves with all the information on our website.
Many parents have questions about properly outfitting their children at this age. We strongly recommend that lacrosse gloves are invested in but the minimum requirements can be found at the equipment page of our website.
Goalie selection/development - The ALA LTAD states that no player at this age group should play goalie exclusively. The Posse encourages the coaching staff to allow all players to try goalie throughout the first 8 games of the season, reserve the remaining games for the player that showed the most ability at the position and encourage them to stick with it over the final few games of the season. Often kids don't know if they will like it until they try and this position is a challenge to fill as the club grows.
As an association, we are hoping to see every one of these players commit to lacrosse as their spring sport. As such, we place a priority on trying to keep friends together year after year and honor such requests as best we can. Team sizes are subject to GELC guidelines: Tyke rosters of 8-16 are permitted.
Any questions about your season should be directed to your Division Director.
